Mkiv Alarm Problems -

hi guys,

need your help here, had the Supra parked up for about a month. Went to start it up today and the Battery was dead. Put some Jump-Leads to it and the alarm started to sound off.

Now here's my problem - the bloody alarm wont stop sounding off (standard Toyota jobby) :censor: it swithces off after 30 seconds then as soon as i open the door - off it bloody goes again.

try to start the car and it is immobilised. The little red security light stays on and wont go off. Changed the Battery of the Fob and still the same..

So..... whats up....?

Cheers

p.s. The Siren under the hood has a key hole into which i put the key thinking it would override the alarm but instead it just makes the siren sound off louder...

Owners manual says you need to insert the key, turn it to ignition and press the lock button (black one) on the fob and it will deactivate all security

Done this a few times before when i've had the Battery disconnected B)

Lee - By Ignition do you mean when the dash lights are on or off....?

Also i'll have to do it with the leads still on the Battery as its pretty weak. the engine does not turn at all -

Straight out of the Intruction booklet

Using the Castle Keys

The Battery back up siren is located between the Battery and the inner wingm it will sound if the power supply is disconnected. The siren can be deactivated by using one of the castle keys provided with the vehicle keys, in the key switch at the top of the unit.

more to come...

The system will be immediately triggered by:

(a ) An attempt to start the vehicle.

(b ) Opening the vehicle's bonnet.

Then following a sixty second setting up period the system will in addition to the above be triggered by:

(c ) Opening a door or the tailgate.

(d ) Movement inside the passenger compartment via the ultrasonic detection system.

Got another fob to try? it says here in the manual that the system cannot be deactivated if an attack on the car is still in progress....

Have you made sure all windows/doors are closed and tried to lock and reopen the car?

The thing is your gonna need a fully working remote to disarm the system as the immobiliser is not key based but alarm based.

Problem is if the fob Battery has died you have something like a few minutes to fit a new Battery before it looses it settings.

If you fob isnt working and you dont have another its gonna have to be reprogrammed by your local main dealer. Shouldn't be too expensive as they just plug it into a machine and use your VIN to get the correct settings

Try pressing both buttons (red & black) at the same time

Also make sure the little slide switch on the side is not stuck inbetween the two positions.

The car Battery has been fully charged but i cannot still start the car

As soon as i turn to iginition the alarm sets off...

I can however hear a buzzing sound coming from the rear inside of the car as soon as i put the key in it.... is this related...? it stays on for about 20 seconds after i take the key out also...

Another thing when you activate your alarm does the red LED stay on or flash on/off - mine currently stays on and does not flash.

Cheers (a very sad) Rash :(

When the alarm is armed the light stays on, when its triggered it flashes, when i unlock the car its off

Sounds like you need to get your fob reprogrammed from toyota dude ;)

ita a long shot, but try locking/unlocking the passenger door with the key then use the fob to unlock it.

Its a common ford problem that I had a few years back on my escort cab.

I was gonna that as my escort Cossy was doing the same a few years ago..Problem is the bloody key doesnt fit the passenger side - just the drives/ignition and boot..

Anyway decided to give Toyota a ring tomorrow and hopefully see what they have to say...

Another thing is when the alarm is sounding off the indicators are on - normally they should flash on/off...... could this be an indication of whats wrong..

Would it be easier to just get an electrician to bypass the alarm so at least i can start the bloody car up and then fit an aftermarket alarm onto it...
