Hi people,

i'm looking to buy a 2.0 Celica GT and i'm trying to find an accurate spec....so far i've found lots of very...well..."different" information!!

For example, this site ->

http://www.parkers.co.uk/choosing/specs/da..._id=899&id=9085

...states the psi is 168break but friends of mine are saying that is "bull"?!?

I have only been able to find U.S. model specs of the 2.2gt not the U.K. 2.0gt which i understand is more powerful??

Help someone

2 litre gt is around 173 bhp .likes to be driven hard ,comes into its own at around 4000 rpm is when it lifts off. can do 90 mph in 3rd gear , tops out at around 134 mph as claimed .

no mate, uk spec is 173 ish bhp i had one a while ago great car , imports run on super unleaded and makes them slightly more powerfull. You could run your uk model on optimax for more bhp.i also think a uk version on insurance may kick yor *****.

Top stuff!! I like the GT4 but insurance will just be silly on one at my age. I think the Celica GT will make a great jap project car. Should get it up to 200break easy.

sports exhaust - de cat and induction kit may take you to 180 bhp , 200 is doubtfull.these cars are slow movers if you dont wind them up in the first 2 gears , get it right and they fly. my gt4 is a rocket and standard too.with a little funds i can make 300 bhp but i find it quick enough , infact its !Removed! great

all for £398 with norwich union. jap import. being older has its advantages.:lol:

hmm...well i work for a car performance and wheel shop (www.power-surge.co.uk)

and know some of the lads from another company near us so should be able to get my hands on some parts for ok prices.

Wanting to go cold air intake instead of just induction - maybe AEM

HKS/Apexi N1 exhaust system for it

Apexi S-AFC

Mates tiptronic FTO 180 standard - he has it to about 210

The S-AFC does make some diff mate!!

If you go for a UK car your garanteed 173bhp but if you go for a jap imort watchout because they come in 2 formats, ss1 3s-fe engine 140bhp or the ss2 3s-ge engine 173bhp (same as uk) . just pop the bonnet and look at the top of the engine , the 3s-ge what u want will say 2000 twin cam 16 and will have the 3s-ge sticker on the side of the timing belt cover.

Heres a picture of the 3s-ge , i know its dirty but its a very old picture :D

Yeah Tom - RX7's are rapid, my mate has one. He didn't even have his turbo's set up properly last time i seen him, still crazy power! Stupid amounts of turbo lag though!!

Ok cool, thanks for the info guys...yeah cat back and cold air intake should give me a good bit more than 5bhp...hoping 15bhp or over...probably heat shield the engine or try relocate the filter to a colder spot if possible. Should be all good.

Oh yeah i'll try norwich union too thanks bud
