Horn And Handbrake

Well - looked out dry day sat so decided to start on replacing the handbrake cover. Bought a nice new momo one a week back, but been too much of a wuss to start it.

So - first we had the brute stength approach - nothing

Then - borrow the wifes hairdryer - strange looks from missus - nothing.

Then - start with hacksaw - painfully slow as convinced going to damage seats

Then - remove seat in temper - much to amusement of neighbours.

2.5 hours later a glimmer of hope - slight movement.

3 hours later new cover and gaitor on and looking good.

3.5 hours later trying to get centre consol over new handbrake

4 hours later - sweaty and tired take car for run... to discover airbag warning light is flashing and start to worry.

4.5 hours later - realise that just need to switch car off for a while and reconnect (properly) the clip under seat.

5 hours later demonstrate new handbarke sleave to missus ... who says 'nice' and goes back in shaking her head.

Oh yeah and I uprated the horn in about 10 mins on sunday!

Avoiding car for next week!

Just an autoshop place - Halfords do them too I think ... difficulty is finding one thats not 'dukes of hazard' but louder than the standard one.

Will add some to my garage when I get a chance - ie daylight.

Dont joke about the grinder - thing is the more I cut the worse it all looked - became a no-way-back situation.

Neighbours were seriously amused as I proceeded to dismantle the car. Not like they hadnt hear me swear before now was it!

Its there only carbon one - along with fitting kit and black leather gaitor.

Its about twice the circumference of the standard one and feels really good ...

It was a doddle to fit once the old ducker was off.. 10 mins to fit - and 9.5 was putting all the car back together.

Thanks Pals

Can you guys advise me how to adjust the hand brake leaver, coz I have to pull it hard ( I mean not that hard... but bit slight harder than normal) to make wheels locked. Is it easy to adjust the cable (if any) or need to hire some mechanic. I got Yaris 2000 Hatchback

Waiting for your reply

lift the centre console out and there is 2 10mm nuts that you use to adjust the handbrake.
