Oil Warning Lights

Hi I have a supra MKIV twin turbo import and my problem is as follows.

Whilst braking for an island the other day the warning triangle and the red oil level lamps lit for about 3 seconds, as I had only just left home I went back, I waited for a while and checked the oil level to find it was spot on.

Next time I was out I was working on some barriers. I left the car running as i was in and out of it testing the barriers with the car.

When I got in the orange oil pressure light was on and didn't go out, i reved the engine slightly to see if it would go out, but it didn't until I turned the engine off and on again.

I am under the impression that there are two oil sensors as level would be checked in the sump and as there is no pressure down there, the other sensor would be after the oil pump. (maybe)

Is there any thing common to the oil pressure & level switch? apart form the lack of oil.

The car does chuff out some blue smoke on start up but nothing after that, previous ford cars i have had also had this and it was put down to valve stem seals, is the same on supras or is it worse.

I would have thought if i was rings or turbo seals I would be burning ie loosing oil but I am not, however now that I have had the oil light problem I am concerned even more.

Cars mileage is 50K

Any ideas as the oil light thing happend within a day of each other.

Hope I have left enough info replies would be appreciated.

Thanks

Steve

When was the last time you changed the oil ?

Have you checked the brake fluid level ? Reason being that this is a favourite for activating the ! warning under heavy braking or acceleration. It needs to be right up to the full mark.

Unfortunately MKIV's do suffer from the hardened valve stem seal problem, which sounds like the problem you have.
