A Prompt For The Release Of A Yaris Turbo?

I've been quite interested in the development of the new Mitsubishi Colt 3-door, which was released recently. Looking on their website today, I found out that they have a 1.5 Turbo as the top of the range.

I'm hoping that if the Colt sells well, it will force Toyota to re-think the UK range for the new Yarii as surely this car could sway potential super mini / hot hatch buyers?

Come on Toyota - give us a Turbo Yaris!! Pleeeeaaaase.

I agree Caz!

Hot hatches sell by the bucket load! Toyota would be foolish to let the new Colt take over the market IMO.

Pull your fingers out Yota Execs!

Yeh I got my local Mitsubishi dealer sending me the specs, brochures and all.

Only thing is its alot more money that the 1.3. It also has had some badish reviews with regards to turbo lag and they suggest buying the 1.3 Mirage and modifiying that and it would be alot better (obviously not performance wise) and thats what they suggest.

Like it though. They are getting their demo soon sooooo yeah know may have to pop down and take it for a spin. Just the insurance group of 14 I belive means insurnace companys would laugh at me most likly.

Well Yaris TS for me, that speed will do mine fine. Cause I decided (yep all by myself I decided) that yes its good to have the power under the bonnet for as and when you need it. But I will only need it on dual carrageways really, cause Motorways your at the speed, and you cant use it in 30mph zones cause 0-60 in a 1ltr is still fast!

So really the power is just their for those occasions when I feel the need to use it, and so the car just feels better to drive, smoother and doesn't feel like its under powered.

I mean. Even in my current car a 1.0Ltr I have never ever in my whole 14months driving had any problems with it, I over take BMWs, and everything on the dual carrageway (with great effort I might add). I know they arn't trying and could wipe the floor with me. But most people dont use their cars performance.

I havn't had any "bad boys" trying to take over me or anything, yes I see them around but none rude enough to take on my 1ltr hehe. So I say sub 10sec is nice... for the time being.

I can't wait for my TS. Life will be so much easier.

Thats my 2p, well probably a fivers worth there.

Also I dont wanna argue about it, or take this off topic. I just had to speak my mind.

You have a very valid point in that you'll be happy with the power of a TS and it's interesting to read what you've found out about the Colt. I know there aren't legally any places on the road that you would be able to exploit the full power of a Turbo... but being with TOC RG and potentially going to be thrashed by 2 Supras (as I was at the weekend in our mini-meet :( ), Lord_Ed's insane Celica & Bibbs' mighty MR2... I crave that little extra power, whilst staying true to the Yaris!

Isn't it rather telling that a few Yaris drivers have had a look at this car though? Previous posts and interest really do prove that there can be a market out there for a Yaris Turbo in the UK.

I agree!

the extra bit in a TS would be nice for just now and then........ that would be the next logical step

Indeed. If they had the turbo... yes I would buy it. Cause it would be faster, and most likly a more higher spec in general anyway, such as Climate Control or something.

Why settle for the basic model when you can do better?

Also Charis, I understand, if I had a fast car which would be track worthy, I sure as hell would want it fast and make it fly and tune the balls off of it.

Glad we all understand. But still nice to know the power is their when your right foot calls upon it :D
