Bit Narked Really.

Not really a question, more a moan. Nobody at Toyota really cares so maybe someone here will.

I've had Japanese cars since I was 17, Micra, Sunny, Primera a proper Nissan graduate I was. Got to choose a company car and opted for the Avensis T3-s thinking that Toyota would follow suit.

Was a tad disapointed today when after 21 months and 49000 miles my Avensis went in to have the engine stripped down as it's using about a litre of oil every 20 yards (ish!). I've read various threads on this message board and realise that it's not just a one off but if I'd bought this car with my own cash I'd be livid.

In addition to this it's been recalled for a steering fault, gone through half a dozen headlight bulbs, had a problem with the drivers side rear brake pads wearing quicker than the near side, has a nasty howl in the drivers door when exposed to strong winds, the 'holders' for the headlamp bulbs don't work properly so after a few corners one's looking up and the other down and how low is that front plastic trim, my car goes onto a lot of building sites with high curbs and those 2 ingredients don't mix. Looks nice though, blue!

Good, feel better now. How I long for a Nissan.

Anyone else have similar feelings on the subject?

Couldn't agree more, all my previous car's were Nissans and they were far superior to my Avensis, just a shame that Renault got involed with Nissan though so there new designs arn't really much better.

Sympathies with the faults, Incubus.

My 03 Avensis 2.0 had some of the same niggles though not the major ones. The new diesel seems a lot tighter and better sorted after 2 years of production mods. No rattles at all, touch wood.

Tries a Nissan before sticking with Avensis and wasn't impressed. Lots of gimmicks, but the ride and the build quality were even worse than I had already! Tried an Audi too but came out with a bad back.

I agree about the front valance - the bumper was pulled away 3 times before I learnt my lesson about kerbs.

 :)

When a japanese car is built in UK there always seem to be more things wrong with it !
