Mkiv Exhaust Help Please

Hi Guys

I've just been to look at a stainless steel custom exhaust that would run from the first cat back, so would take out the second cat.

When the guy took a look he found that there was a sensor in the 2nd cat which would cause some trouble.

The long and the short of it was that he said that without having the sensor removed, or the ecu reprogrammed or something, then he would only be able to do a cat back system.

Is it possible, easy and how would you do it, to remove the 2nd cat and the sensor.

I don't want to go for a full de-cat as I don't want the hassle of having to fit a cat in for each MoT

Cheers :)

Synn

Thats rubbish, all he needs to do is stop being lazy and put a hole in the pipe for the sensor to go in :thumbsup:

I've just bought a Megan Pipe from eBay and it replaces both cats - made for UK Spec so has a sensor hole in it

So I can remove the 2nd cat, but leave the 2nd sensor in?

I'm all confused... I thought the cat and the sensor worked together

Nah the sensor is to do with monitoring exhaust flow or something.

J-Specs dont have it i hear...

Anyway yeah its gonna have to be fitted via a hole in the pipe somewhere.

You cant leave it out or remove it as it would muck up the ecu as it cannot monitor flow properly and most likely cause your car to run like a dog.

So if I remove the 2nd cat, all I have to do is plug that sensor back into the pipe and everything will run happily?

If so, I can get a new exhaust tomorrow :D
