Can someone explain sparkpugs to me!!

OK i know what they do but is there a big difference in the cheap/expensive ones on a standard 2.0GT engine?

Also i notice they have heat ratings, does this only matter in prolonged hard driving?

Cheers Guys

Ok big subject but as they last a long time now with clean fuel engines, it's worth buying good ones albeit no one will say theirs aren't and i don't doubt it but suppliers and manufacturers aren't always in it for the 'commisions' they test extensively and it's their reputation esp when it comes to continuing sales so trust em and you'll never have to worry about heat ranges, it's sorted but no, it's not relevant to prolonged hard driving alone it's to do with optimum overall performance under all (varying) conditions for all 'average' users, if you're going racing, ask again.

Cheers.

heat range i just how well the plug sheds heat but a hot running plug in a hi performance engine and you will get pre ignition ie the fuel ignities by the heat of the electrode rather than the spark on a high power turbo car its bye bye pistons hello big repair bills.

put a cold running plug in a low powered engine and it will soot up and stop working
