Brake Upgrades For Corolla Ae92 Gti

I'm after a decent brakeupgrade suitable for the AE92 GTI.

I'm NOT after the usual Greenstuff pads and drilled/grooved disks etc, i want a propper upgrade, like bigger disks, wilwood 4 pot calipers etc. I also want to keep the 14" rims.

This conversion is actually for a Carina II, but the front braking system is virtually identical, apart from the carina carries wider disks as stock. A simple upgrade for the corolla would be a Carina II disk and caliper swap, to give you wider disks.

i had a kit made by hi-spec 335mmx 32mm discs and 6 pot billet alloy calipers but they wont fit iside anything under 17 inch rim but they could make you a smaller set

from hi-spec themselves. cost about £1200 for the front. did take a while to get though

Thanks for the reply's guys

you can fit disks & calipers from a celica GT4, but you'll need bigger wheels for these as well

Correct me if i'm wrong, but aren't celica's 5 stud? my car is 4 stud.

Keeping the 14's is essential as i've just had them refinished and a new set of tyres.

Is there a simple caliper upgrade, or do i have to do the whole lot.

Also, the main problems i am having may be to do with the master cylider. When everything's cold, i.e. in the mornings, i can stamp on the brakes and the pedal will go straight to the floor with ease and very little breaking power. I find this slightly scary and i don't know why its happening. I've had new pistons and seals in the master cylinder and its still the same. What i really don't understand is the same thing happensin my mate's 51 reg corolla. Is this a toyota thing, or do you think i have a fault?

If needs be, i'll try an aftermarket master cylinder, new front calipers, and the rear disk conversion that i am planning from a corolla GTi.

If anyone has any other suggestions - i'd be grateful.

Thanks

no matter what the weather conditions are, if your pedal drops like that you have air in the system somewhere.

Hydraulic oil works in a rediculously wide temperature band and the british weather is no problem for it in the slightest, you'll find that after you have been driving for a while things start to warm up, wheels, brakes etc including the fluid and any air in the system, the air gets thinner as it gets hotter and the fluid displaces it easier making the brakes more effective, but still not good.

get a better bleed kit. ?

You can't really get a bleed kit for it - the master cyliner cap just clips on - it isnt a screw cap like most other cars - which makes my gunson bleeding kit useless.

Its been bled several times, and still the same problem exists.
