Right, fitted my new stg1 turbo today. :D

so thought id give it a run...much quicker !!! - more lag - but more power ! :P

driving back home, off a roundabout 2nd....3rd...abs light comes on, and batt light.... fan belt (alternator belt) snapped !!, got about another 2 miles down the road...stop

so how easy / hard is a fan belt change anyone - is it just around the alternator ? or are there other pullies to cover.

any advice welcome !

Cheers

Right, got me self a fan belt

popped my bonnet once home - fan belt is still on the car ?????

Great i thought must be me alternator thats blown !!! - Damned - more money !

But my mate was convinced it might be the Battery - its one of those Halfords jobbies that has a window and the window is black - knakered !!!

So before i started stripping the car - for a second day, thought we would try and start it, jump started her, fine, no lights nothing ???? weird ?

drove down the road - fine - weird ? took her for a spin - ok, started her this morning - ok. so i have no idea what happened the night before but she seams to be running ok now ?

Gonna go to me local parts shop and get them to test me Battery at lunch - does anyone know if the alternator can be tested ?

Cheers

Take it to your local auto electrician. He should be able to put a test on it no probs.

Had Battery and Alternator tested. Battery is A ok, alternator not so ok.

It is still working, but is wearing,(brushes) so when i have lights, stereo, engine, TT....etc etc running the alternator cannot charge the Battery quick enough !!, so eventually it dies. driving the car in the day is ok, thats why its ok at the mo. Gonna get me alternator off, and have it referbed down me local parts shop, £40 - better than a new one !

so should be ok, so long as i dont drive a lobg way at night for now !
