Forgive my ignorance but just had big ends go on Paseo trying to source engine what is difference between 5E FE and 5E FHE will both fit. Are looms different etc? Any answers appreciated desperate!!!

the 5E FHE has a higher compression ratio and abit more horse power. i think the paseo is 95bhp and the 5E FHE (which is in the sera) is 105bhp

andrew (toyota sera) will know more when he come's online.

p.s if you want a 5E FHE i will have one in a few months (in tip-top condiction) !

the 5E-FHE develops 10 - 15 bhp more, partly down to higher compression ratio, bigger injectors and also different cams.

The ECU's are different as well, but I'm not sure how easy it would be to convert a Paseo to full 5E-FHE spec due to wiring differences.

I once put a 5E-FE into a Sera (all that I could get at the time), and it lacked the knock sensor on the back of the engine

Could you find the ECU on your car. Its either hidden to the left , behind the glovebox or under the dash, in the middle of the car. It will either have 2 plugs or 3 plugs on it. If its 2 plugs, then I'd hazard a guess, that the Sera ECU could be use and you'd have the full 5E-FHE spec.

i thought it was a straight drop? meh, i want one....or a 4efte, aargh

the engine will be a straight swap as they're identical to look at, however the wiring may have a few things that need changing slightly.

Need to check ECU's and how many plugs they have.

i think a lower emissions standard is present in the fhe which helps horsepower, but i don't know if you could do both. I think i'd stick with one at a time :D ;)

hehe, cheeky dev. wel nah, i dunno which one to do really. i could do the 5efhe a lot sooner cause its a lot less powerful than the 4efte and it aint turbo'd so my insurance wouldnt be s**t high. on the otherhand, the 4efte is already boosted. i dunno, i might stick to the 5efhe, but itll be more expensive in the longer run when i boost it etc...
