yep - such a shame - Rust is the major destroyer of all old school Corolla's AE82/AE86/AE92 as well as mk1 MR2's.... Consider yourself luck to find any of these without rust :D

Rash.

I'm going to start work on my project too soon

was the K reg a limited model as there's not many around

I want to spray it black and put on an evo 6 bumper, GT4 vent, slight tints, some nice light alloys, maybe a 4A-GZE engine and a nice sound system

Cheers

Very luck to have a K-Reg B)

Last of the AE92. I don't think it was a Ltd edition just the standard late spec 130bhp NonTVIS 4A-GE engine. (I stand corrected though)

Being a K-Reg, it shouldn't have much rust on it at all - you'll need to keep an eye on it though as it will most certainly rust up if not looked after/treated regularly

SYSTEM _ how do you keep the rust away??? cus i got some brandnew front wing and wana try and keep em looking clean

underseal the inside before you fit them, paint the outside well.

look after it.

I've neglected mine for the last 3 months, havent even washed it properly and now its got bubbles appearing on the tailgate, the red has faded to pink and the rear arch has got bubbles too along the lower lip :(

as soon as i get some time i'll repaint the whole thing, its amazing how quickly things have changed with it.

oh well.

Yep as Unity said above.

I had to treat my front wings every 2 - 3 months once the rust had got in. I see in one if "KidKoala's" photos the rust is starting to come through again only after 1 month after I sold it to him :(

Waxoil and/or old engine oil is good for holding back rust. After wing is fitted spray it through gaps in plastic arch so it hits behind wing.

With old military vehicles (where 'looks' thing ain't so much of a problem :D ) I spray the vehicle over with a mixture of 2parts old engine oil to 1part Diesel then wipe over afterwards...gives a good satin finish on matt green paint + plus never rusts  ...and stops the kiddies climbing over everything at vehicle shows :lol::lol:

Wicked, but my great grandpa told me to rub rub loads of Dahl (lentil curry) on it and it wont rust, and i cant go against good old grandpa, so ill try that method and if it dont work ill try the ones recommended here lolz  , nah messin, yep will do, cus its such a wounder cus really spoils the car.

Hey unity and Twincam Gti you should know this, but if i was to buy a supercharger from fensport along with a 4agze ECU would i be able to fit it to my car?? cus i rang fensport today and the guy goes i have to buy a whole new engine and everything, but my engine is MINT, ive done 590 in 12hour shot with not even a squeak, and ive serviced it so intensly and i wana keep the engine but try and supercharge it??

do you know??

thanks

Gti-r: I realise you understandably want to use your engine as a basis (and in theory any engine can be 'supercharged' as was the method of 'tuning' good 'ole prewar sidevalve/flathead engines in ones Ford or Austin Seven etc.).

However to my knowledge (very limited) I believe the 4AGZE engine had slight differences such as stronger/thicker internal components to thus take the increased 'Strain/power/thrash  ' of being driven with a Supercharger fitted.

Also when firms such as Fensport aquire engines they obtain them as complete 'units/package' and I can understand they would probably not wish to go spliting power unit packages (which are alway low millage if imported).

I do believe with their 'setups' they also include the ECU this you would also need as I doubt your management system would be 'mapped' to allow for alterations in having a supercharger slapped on your engine. For this reason I can understand Fensport wanting to sell you a complete package (plus I do believe in this way they can warranty it).

I do sypathise what you say and realise it's going to be more expensive.

Surely the compression ratios etc will all need to be lowered for a charged engine, different cam profiles, etc etc.

Thats what I meant when I said about different internal components.

On the subject of compression ratio for supercharging with some pre war side valve engines you had different grades of Headgasket thickness (and sometimes 2 or more would be fitted to alter compression ratio, also ideal when there was bad fuel about etc.)

you really only need to fit some GZE pistons that are stronger and shaped slightly differently along the top face (to lower compression), IF you have the seven ribbed engine block, beyond that you'll need the charger unit, mounting brackets, plumbing the ECU and the wiring, you'd be much better off buying a complete unit so you know everything is matched, splicing the wiring together takes ages and gets very confusing.

I want to do that soo much and my target is 200+bhp

Is that possible?

and do you peeps think an Evo 5 front bumper will look good with some headlight conversions?

Cheers

if you want 200+ bhp then its going to be hard (not impossible)with the 4A.

nad has done it by twin charging (supercharger and a turbo).

if you really want that power then the 3S-GTE will be a cheaper, easier (relatively) and more reliable.

if you use the rev 2 3S then you will have an easy 200bhp if you can stretch to a rev 3 then 300+

I've got a proven 187bhp from a supercharged 4a-GZE from a Japanese Levin front cut and I'm struggling to find any more :crybaby:

OK I don't wonna go crazy with power

The 3S-GTE sounds good and if I was going to do it I would have to go for the later spec version

So 300bhp is cool by me

But realisticly how much will it cost all in including GT4 stoppers £4000?

I have the car for nothing it is nice with little rust and it is a K reg so I'm chuffed about that lol

The ironic thing is I will never be able to drive her when she is done due to my poor vision but on a private road she will be mine lol

I have toyed with the idea for a year now and it is going to happen now as my bro's scooby is now done

Cheers
