Painting Calipers & Drum

:huh::huh:

I have reviewed this site and others looking for ideas on what colour to paint my calipers.

As I am 35 I don't want to look too ' boy raceriswh' and as I own an ST it is unlikely that I would splash out on gen Brembo!.

Therefore I would be grateful for any pics of Celica's with any colour schemes used.

I have AEZ Icon 6's (16") alloys and the car itself is black. I saw a really good example of silver calipers with silver drums..... Looked really smart, but I do like the idea of red but don't know if this will look OTT?

Also I have printed off loads of stuff on how to clean and paint the calipers but cannot find anything on how to paint the drums?? Any info gratefully accepted.

Thanks

Got to say if I painted mine I would go for black, so that they don't stand out and look daft, but if anyone looks they look well kept and shiney and should clean up easier.

If you go for a bright colour, make sure it's done well! You see far too many novas with rusty silver drums and they look worse than if they were just rusty!

Drums on celicas? don't you have discs all round?

Yeah, discs all round - but the rears also have drums for the handbrake.

You can paint the calipers and drums with normal 2-pack paint, so you can quote any paint code you like and have the colour you want mixed up.

Cheers everyone for the replies, much appreciated.

I have already purchased red smooth hammerite as I have seen it recommended (and pics to prove it) from various sites and for various modelsat a much cheaper price than the specalised paint.

I have recently seen a car (on the web ) with silver calipers and rear drums and it looked really smart without being too OTT so it looks like Do it All will have to exchange for me!!

As my car is Black with black interior and very other little other colour except some chrome on the stero I didn't want to introduce 101 different colours.

I have seen gold paint on a Lexus but not sure about this (Green is a Skoda ralley colour I beleive??)

I am considering some interior mods with the same reservations (i.e blue neon looks silly when I drop the kids to school and go to work in a suit! Ha Ha) so I am looking carefully before I decide.

Thanks again everyone.

 Only uploaded the one at the momment mate, but will be getting the old camera out when the sun starts shining! (Maguires here we go!)

Inside of my car is preety much black everything except the inside roof lining with is a light grey type colour and small amount of blue in seat material.

I am living in the Valleys in Aberdare - As you have a monster machine you have probably overtaken me on the M4 somewhere!!

Already got the smooth hammerite - just need to change it for silver -????

Hi matey:) I painted mine black all round with hammerite. Looks good but non to chavvy/boy racer. I am thinking of silver now though due to the car being silvery!!!

But as for black...does look good and keeps the evil browny rusty coulour away!!

My 2p`s worth. The cars metallic grey with silver wheels now. I`ve done the drums/hubs black so as not to detract from the wheels and the calipers are blue to contrast everything. Hammerite for the drums and hi temp paint for the calipers.

Bear in mind with the hammerite that if you dont like the colour and want to repaint a different colour, you will have to leave it for a few days to fully cure or you`ll get a reaction in the paint.

imo on calipers or drums, it has to be either black or silver, i prefer silver cos it makes the calipers etc look brand new, but its down to personal preference really.
