I recently acquired a 1974 Hilux utility. The automatic choke is not working. Need to know basic principles:

1. By what means is heat conveyed through the pipe from manifold to the heating coil? Is it pressure from manifold, or suction from carburettor venturi, or merely convection?

All is connected up. The engine runs, but choke valve remains closed, and no obvious heat is coming from the manifold pipe.

Thanks

Ian
