Timing Belt/chain?

After checking with my local garage and toyota dealer i have been informed that the yaris runs on a timing chain rather than a belt. Is this true? the car is a 1999 T reg 1ltr gls.

Im just a tad confused as when i looked at the engine i see that there is a serpentine belt fitted where you would expect to find the timing belt.

I have a 1.0l GS. it's a timing chain... not a belt.. if you have the service book it states timing belt N/A

The belt probably runs ancilliaries like your power steering, alternator and aircon should you have it.

Alan aint normal either........ normal people i know don't use the word "ancilliaries".. infact, normall people i know won't know what it means, i would have said that the belt runs other "stuff"
