Took my car in for its mot and it failed on emissions, the problem seems to be a pipe that leads to nowhere!

It is located on the left hand side of the rocker cover near the air filter, it is a really thin long pipe that leads down below the air filter box. I need to know where this pipe goes as the connector it was on seems to have snapped and i have no idea.

Can any on e help, my car is a revision 2 '93 registered model.

As you look from the back of the car it is located on the top left hand side of the engine on top of the air flow meter and went down past the air filter. Went to toyota and they didn't have a clue!
