Rear Brake Discs

OK now.

I got some new discs brakes for the rear wheels for the 1994 UK MR2. How much would it usually cost to fit them? would of went to local garage but closed till tuesday. dammit!

Or alternative how easy to change them your self? like what tools needed? its there a guide here? only prob i not bought any brake pads yet which would need replacing too!

there is a full guide in the mr2 section mate.the rears are pretty much the same as the front except the piston may need !Removed! back in and not pushed in.

Hiya mate - i checked out the price for new pads and discs ( for a 96 celica GT) and it worked out around 200 quid if the monkeys in the greasy overalls do it. Dont know if that helps........ :group-cuddles:

Hi there mate changing the brake pads and discs on a car are really simple you jack your car up place some bricks under the car so when you working the possiblity of the car falling off of the jack has gone.

1.unbolt the wheel

2.theyll be a bolt at the top and bottom of the calipers undo these take the existing pads out and place the new ones in. if you have some apply some copper spray where the pads sit into the callipers.

3. to change the brake pads there will be usually 2 screws holding them in place on the hub undo and place the new disks on and replace the screws.

4.place the callipers back around the disc and do the two top and bottom bolts up tight again. you might have to squeeze the calipers apart to fit them over the new disks but dont be afraid to use a lump hammer but not too vishiously this is rare youll need to do thid unless the calippers are virtually seized.

5.palce your wheel back on and tighten the bolts finger tight.

6. lower the car off of the bricks with the jack again and then tighten the wheel nuts when the car is on the ground and tighten from one bolt then the next one been the opposite side therefor the wheel is balanced correctly on the hub.

a how to not do it . :lol::lol:

try axle stands ,a g-clamp and putting the pads in lastly when changing discs also.some caliper pistons require !Removed! in rather than pushing back with a g-clamp.

also sometimes the bolts seize up and require heat to get em off hope you get it done m8y as it is pretty easy to do tho dont round ya bolts good luck dude ;)
