I have looked into buying a Starlet GTT in the near future, im 19, i kno some of u guys will say that insurance is gna be stupid for me but got a quote under me mums name and its in the region of £1200 third party.

What i would like to kno is how they are on fuel. I kno turbo cars drink alot of petrol but i would like to kno jus how big the fuel bill will be on average.

Also are there any major problems to look out for on the GTT's? I had a 1997 Starlet Sportif which was mechanically outstanding, it was bullet proof in my eyes, sadly the car didnt like a concrete pillar though :crybaby:

Many of my mates have said that turbo cars are more trouble than necessary but i kno for a fact that Toyota probably make the most reliable motors on the planet, along side Honda!!

Thanx for any help guys/gals

I get 30mpg out of my Starlet turbo engined Sera, and thats a mixture of town and country driving. On a long run I get over 40mpg.

Starlet engine = reliable, providing its looked after. Regular oil and filter change, letting turbo cool etc.,

There fine mate just watch out for smoke on the turbo, window motors and CV joints they seem the common things that people have go wrong.

thanx for the replies guys much appreciated. Dont mean to be picky but can any1 tell me how many miles they get to a full tank?

I used to get 270-300 miles out of my EP91, jus wana c how they compare.

One more thing, the intercooler location on starlet turbo's are very similar to the pulsar engine. Ive read that the pulsars suffer quite bad on overheating due to the intercooler location, jus wanted to kno if this problem is evident with the Starlet GTT's.

Thanx :D

in standard and mildly tuned form the top mount intercooler doesnt really cause any problems. its when you go for 150bhp or more it becomes an issue.

i recon you should get around 200+ miles to a tank if driven reasonably. if the car is tuned obviously fuel consumption drops.

i use BP ultimate in mine so it costs even more. i used to have a 1.25 zetec fiesta and to be honest the fuel consumption between the two cars isnt as radically different than i thought. :P

always use optimax in mine

some reason i think its much better fuel dunno y tho lmao!!

on low boost i get around 250 miles out of a tank without pushing the looney button!!!
