Avensis 02 Central Locks

Anyone know how the central locking works on these vehicles?

The doors seem to lock themselves when they feel like it. Do they eg. lock all the doors if you forget or if you only press the button once (dedlocks then go on) ?

Can someone explain how they are supposed to work ?

Basically, if you press the remote and unlock the door locks, if you don't open any of the doors within the 30 seconds or so, it will lock itself.

Thanks for that - I wondered how it was working. Anything else I need to know about the locking ?

If you press the "Lock" button once it Just locks all the doors and put on the interior sensors on. If you press the "Lock" button Twice(Within 5 Seconds, of pressing it the first time) it does the same as pressing the button once but it also Deadlocks the Car. Finally if you press the "Lock" button 3 times it locks all of the doors but does not switch one interior protection(i.e if you have left your dog or children in the car, press it three times and they can move about in the car with out setting the alarm off.)

Hi All

Excuse my ignorance, but what is the difference between locking (ie 1 push) and deadlocking (ie 2 pushes of the key) to the car. I would have thought locked was well locked !

Cheers

locked is just locked. however, if you break the windows, ignore the alarm going off, reach in and undo the door, they will open.

Deadlocking means that the doors cannot be opened from the inside.

So, if you break the window, ignore the alarm, you still can't open the doors. B)
