Could try on GT4OC if they have 1. Depends what you call cheap though :D Another is from a breakers if they get a modded jap car in, but chances are itll be front damage anyway.

See if we could get a dirt cheap group buy

There are some reasonably priced ones on good ol eBay. But i`m havin second thoughts now. Might be a bit vulnerable hanging out in the breeze. The top mounts good enough for most applications provided you can get round the heat soak problem. I`ve got a spal fan fitted, but i reckon i need to insulate underneath the IC with some sort of heat reflective material...... Goes off to invent something. :D

Yeah. I`ve been umming and ah-ing over this and come to the conclusion that it`s definately a benefit to keep the top mount. if you take into consideration the length and complexity of the pipe runs your not really going to gain much in terms of cold air

entering the engine. And it`s going to save some pennies for other mods. I think lagging the I/C is going to be next on my to do list.

the down side of keeping the stock top mount is heat soak, a FMIC allows more air to pass thru it than the TMIC so will stay cooler for longer ;)

Absolutely right. I`ve already got a spal fan fitted to the I/C to help offset this plus i`ve got hold of some heat shielding as used in the engine bays of jet aircraft which i shall use underneath the I/C. Hopefully this combination should do the trick.......

If not i`ll probably try a FMIC. :)
