Will These Alloys Fit On My 'rolla?

I know, I've done the searches, and can't justify the expense of a muckup.

Therefore, I'm asking the direct question, as I'm not 100% sure I've got all the measurements sorted out, with regards to rolling diameter etc.

On my E10, I want to replace the stock steel rims with the above size alloys. Will these fit without rubbage/lowering? (6X15 ET39 4X100 BORE 54.1)

The car is not lowered at all, although the shocks are probably going to be replaced soon as they are fairly worn.

How will these fit? How do wide wheels work on narrow rims? I've seen it done, and it doesn't always look good. What size tyre will I need to make up the stock size again and not mess up the speedo reading? Will handling improve over the stock rims?

I'd like a flush fit (sortof) with the side, and I'm unsure whether these will fit/look good/not rub.

Advice, anyone?

Wheel size fitment 'measures' are as follows:

PCD = 4 X100

Offset = 35 to 38

Bore = 54.0

So your PCD of 4x100 will be fine and your bore of 54.1 will be fine (.1 of a mill won't make any difference).

The offset of 39 (which you state) will probabley not make any difference with 6x15 wheels (but would with bigger wheels).

With 6X15 wheels your tyre size would be 195/50 R15 (Cheap price nowadays :thumbsup: ) for up to 1997 and for 1997 onward tyre size would be 195/55 R15. But please do check with tyre dealer.

Your speedo will still be acurate.

You will notice an improvement with handling

I know a lot of 'show' and magazine cars are on a least 17inch these days but for everyday use the handling can in fact be worse (this was even said on a thread last week) and the ride on our roads can be quite bumpy. Also 17inch on a Corolla do seem to put a bit of strain on certain front suspension components.

16inch can be a good compromise between looks and Handling but tyres are expensive (in fact more expensive that 17inch tyres!).

6x15 inch wheels and a set of good tyres is an easy way of slightly improving the looks and handling of any car. :thumbsup:

Now there's an excellent answer. Thanks!

Now to do some photoshopping to check that the alloys will actually look somewhat decent on the car.

Will put a pic up, if it's decent enough...

Thanks again for the reply!

:thumbsup::thumbsup:

One more point you said they were 6X15. Usually 15 inch wheels are 6.5x15 or 7x15; not that it will be a problem :D

YES!

Usually its 14inch alloy wheels which are 5.5 and 6 inch wide

and

" " 15inch alloy wheels which are 6.5 and 7 inch wide

So if you have 6X15 then you will have no probs with clearence of arches at all (even if your back suspension was knackered and boot overladen :D )

Out of curiosity what make/version of wheel were you looking at.

The only alloy I can think of that comes in a 'straight' 6x15 size is one of the 'Minilight'/superlight' classic style range which is for MGB, Austin Healey, etc

These are what I'm looking at:

alloy set 1

These are the ones I'm most keen on at the moment, although the seller reports that the offset is ET45, which is pretty high, if I'm not mistaken. Also I think they'll fit better on the older E10 shape.

alloy 2

These look like the Yaris TTE alloys, and I've seen them at the 'Pod on a blue yaris, and it looked the part.

alloy 3

These are probably too modern for the E10. I've done a bit of photoshopping, but it's not really inspiring.

The first set is choice #1, as it's 16" (bling bling) and they've got tyres on as well.

Can't make me mind up...

Okay here is as I see it:

Alloy set 1 will fit, but ...if off a T Sport (the latest shape) then I think the tyres will be to big to be the same 'rolling radius for your speedo.

The tyres you will require will be something like 195/45 R16 (and remember 16inch Tyres are a bit pricy at moment.) whereas the ones on this set I think <_< are 195/55 R16 so thus to big; apart from speedo being out I think you will catch on rear arches somewhere or posibliy front arches if cornering hard especially with that offset of 45 :eek:

Alloy set 2 would be fine (Yaris and older Corolla wheels fit each others car)

There 15 inch but will need to buy tyres for them. However with these i'm just woundering about width...it states 5.5 inch wide which is narrow for 15 inch ...but not a problem in any way other than they might look to 'narrow' on a Corolla, to quote from your first post:" I'd like a flush fit (sortof) with the side, "

Alloy set 3 : Ah yes so I see 6x15. They would fit fine, but I think your right may look too modern.

Personally I like Set 2 but it's the width of 5.5 that concerns me, Corollas really do look best on a width of around 6.5inches if fitting 15 inch wheels.

Sorry for throwing a 'spanner' of sorts at all your choices although I'm glad you've posted them up.

It just (as with anyone) I don't like to see people make a wrong decission with their hard earned cash.

Thanks for the reply, I don't mind you throwing a spanner in the works. My missus is very pleased with you for doin this hehe...

But I'd rather not blow my moola on wrong purchases either, so hat off to ya there. :thumbsup:

So set 2 would be do-able, except for the width...

I think I need to do a bit more hunting.

I'll have a hunt around for tyre prices as well, and the 45 offset kinda puts me off. I've seen pics of wheels outside the arches (wider), and it doesn't work imo.

I like the Yaris TTE look... I think they'll look slick on a 'rolla...

Can't make my mind up. Usually that's a sign that I need to hold back for a while.

Where can I get the TTE alloys in the UK? tte.de has the specs, but no online shop.

TTE and TRD are perfomance divisions of Toyota (Much the same way as Leyland 'Special Tuning' were in the 60's,70's for BL Mini's, MGB's & Marina TC's)and don't seem to have departments as such in the UK although you could try asking at your local Toyota dealer.

I do not know how much you wish to spend for wheels and tyres (and realise it's not my business) but have you considered one of the many aftermarket wheel and tyre options that are available from many 'mod shops'/wheel shops'?

Just a thought.

I know of TTE and TRD, Fensport in the UK and the shops in NL and South Africa. (Pity they don't do the E10 in SA, as they are more keen on 5-door cars there than here in Europe. Would have been nice to be able to get some cool bits 'n bobs from there)

I have considered shops, and find most of them too expensive at the moment. Aftermarket = secondhand?

I can justify a few hundred quid for a set with decent tyres on, but anything above 250 is no-go at this stage.

Am hoping to find a bargain somewhere, but unfortunately most of the alloys on eBay or secondhand are on there for a reason: someone wants to dump them 'coz they're buckled/damaged/curbed. And that makes a less-than-sound purchase.

Wiser move would be to hang tight for a while, spend some moola on the interior (components in the doors, another project altogether). instead, and get a set of hubcaps to pass time. (blergh... hubcaps... :huh: )

I'll keep my eyes open for a bargain, hopefully I can spy one out soon. Would love to replace the yucky rims with a flash set of alloys...

Thanks again for the info, I'll pick your brains again soon... :P
