How can I find out the 'year of manufacture' of and engine from its number?

I am building a Lotus 7 type kit car with a Toyota MR2 20V VVTI engine.

I purchased the engine second hand and I need to find out the year of manufacture for SVA. The number is 4A-K739785.

Can you help?

I take it your have the 1.9 VVTi engine .. about 140bhp?

Happen to have the chassis number of the car it was from? As the list of chassis numbers is in the stickie threads.

Otherwise I'd suggest guessing or telling them the oldest (emissions are easier the older the engine).
