Another Question all - Does anyone know how to cure the cold start problem ie) My car revs at 2,000 revs for approx. five minutes until warm, and then it's absolutely fine, (I may save some petrol also) :)

:yes: mine as well has done for over the 10 years i've owned it, if it was a concern it would have surely done damage by now :D

Thanks all.  Topic now closed, unless I need to close it officially - I'm new at this.

:D

OK One last Question. If it's meant to do this, why is there not a sensor that does not rev so high, surely this cannot be good for the engine of fuel consumption. These are only cars I know that rev so high, OK MR2's as well I am told.

What would be the purpose of the car revving so high from cold. I would be interested to know if anyone has a car that does not rev. this high. I have had a few cars in my time, and all except the 306 did this from cold, possibly because I had the K & N on it though.

It does mean that the engine warms up sooner and so the choke can be turned off sooner into your journey!

It is not ideal though, especially if you have really old, thick oil which won't reach the poor cam(s) until a few vital seconds from actually starting up!

Having said that, when I had the head off my 2E last year, after 130k miles there was very little wear to the cam journal or bearing suefaces, so can't be that bad for it as long as the oil is changed for decent stuff at sensible intervals.

try cleaning your air temp sensor (VSV) the black one in the filter, if its dirty it may be giving a false reading to the ECU.

Mine only revs at about 1500 on a very cold day at start up, if you have fitted an induction kit you will need to adjust your 'richness' mixture to compensate for the extra air going in, otherwise it will be gettin too much air and therefore giving more fuel and higher revs.

The choke should start to open up after 7 minutes and be fully open by 10 minutes on a normal day (whatever the hell that is !?)
