Can't imagine why anyone would want an auto box on a Supra, each to their own though.

Looks the part!

Because with all that power you could do with keeping both hands on the wheel :P

Thats a lame excuse to be honest ;) with an engine that has so much power, you won't need to change gear mid corner or whilst overtaking.. and to change gear in a straight line isn't exactly challengine ;)

Well 90% of supras are automatic, the reason for this is there is only .5 of a sec diffrence on the 0-60.

The autobox is good for 500bhp, its smooth and quiet and makes the supra feel like a big go-kart.

Anyone that has driven a manual 6 speed supra will know the gearbox is very agricultural in movement and it rather rough.

The clutch is pnumatic and rather heavy.

The autobox still has the ability to change manually and because of the longer gears you save a lot of time on the 1/4mile.

Comes down to personal preffrence but i'd never swap my Auto for a manual

I see your point now, if its a decent autobox then fair enough.

I could never give up having full control of the car though!

Anybody else think them two statements are kind of contradictory ?

When you put it like that maybe ;) .

What I mean by giving up full control of the car is not being able to change gear when I want to, not when the gearbox decides to change for me.

I'm not knocking your cars - I'd love to own a Supra ;) not a chance of that happening any time soon though.

Its personal preference really, I must have a manual gear box, you don't want a manual box, and thats cool with me! :)

How could I turn down an offer like that? I'd love to come out for a blast. Only problem I can see happening, is me realising how inadequate my GT-i is, and wanting to sell everything I own to get a faster motor! :D

I imagine I'll be at the Bristol meet ;)

I take it you haven;t driven many supras then, nor DECENT automatics

Got to take the mileage with a pinch of salt.....i always say if there is no proof of the mileage (service history etc) assume its incorrect ;) Lots of importers (although they would never admit to it) roll back the clocks to something lower but still reflecting the age of the car

Update; been to see the 6 grand one.

They were not expecting me so the car was not 'prepared' - the paint work looked a bit dull ?

A few questions as I'm not that familiar with Supras -

1. The speedometer had been converted but just had a 'mph' sticker on it - is this OK or should the whole dial have been changed ? strangely the odometer still read in km

2. Rear side valance could be pushed in by hand - normal ?

3. No active front spoiler

All in all I won't be going for this one - it had no history at all, holes in dash from phone kit and just looked a bit tired. I know it's 11 years old but I'm sure there is nicer out there.

1. This is typical, they usually convert the whole mileage in km to a new miles figure or in your case they convert to miles and leave the km intact - thus in the future your mileage will be the km it was converted plus the miles after the convertion. Pain in the butt that but thats just what some importers do :(

2. Do you mean the side skirts? yeah thats normal, they have a lot of play on them - nothing to worry about as long as all the bolts and clips underneath are on :)

3. N/A Supra's dont have it, most import turbos dont have it either. It was an optional extra on the turbos i think and standard on the uk cars

There are much cheaper ones on the net :) Look in autotrader, do a search nationwide for supras and there is a red import n/a for £4200ono and it has 18 alloys, HKS cams+pulleys, custom exhaust, new brakes, Super AFR meter! :crybaby:

If i had the money i would have it as i'd steal the wheels off it and the HKS cams/pulleys then flog it again  - But really i want a white N/A as a project car - not another red one ;)

Plenty of bargains out there man
