Help Squeaky Pulleys On Verso D4d

Hi everyone,

I have a small problem with my 2001 Avensis Verso D4D. I can hear a rubbing type noise from one of the engine pulleys. I normally get this noise during the winter when it is pretty damp outside when I first start up the engine. It normally goes away after a couple of minutes. Today I have noticed that it has not gone away. The weather is very misty and damp at the minute. It seems to be either the power steering pump or the belt tensioner below it, although it could be one of the others, it is hard to isolate it. I am positive that it is being caused by dampness and am tempted to give a small spray of WD40. The only problem with this is that I dont want to cause any damage to a bearing if the WD40 were to drive out any lube inside. Any suggestions? The car is covered by the excellent Toyota extended warranty, but I don't want to waste time by sitting at my local dealers for a couple of hours if this can be easily remedied by me.

All the best

Dougie

Suggest you replace both belts but make sure you get good quality belts. I did'nt and had to redo the job.

Buy cheap buy twice.

Hi,

just spray some WD40 on there or some Copper Grease

That should do the trick

copper grease will break the belt up ! Use some chalk then get them replaced !
