Yeh - need more info! Could be that the vent controls are busted. I've had this on previous cars; when you turn the heater knob (the one that changes the air temperature for the cabin), quite often you are just yanking a piece of steel cable which activates the venting system, swinging a kind of jumbo butterfly valve in the air venting system. If the cable snaps, then you will find it much easier to move the heater knob, and obviously you won't be able to change the cabin air inlet temperature!

Other things that spring to mind are air locks in the little radiator that provides the cabin heat - this usually only happens if you have drained the coolant and refilled it, and haven't checked for air locks, or you have been running on a low coolant level which has sucked air into the system. BTW The radiator that is the cabin heater is part of the primary engine cooling system in most cars (can't think of one where this isn't true). This being the case, there may be thermostat valves depending on the system design which may have failed - I have seen cars where there is a thermostat which only lets the cabin heating radiator have warm coolant once the engine is up to a certain temperature, but this is quite rare in my experience. If the primary thermostat (which opens up the main raditator behind the grill to allow coolant to flow through it once the engine is up to temp) is broken then this can also cause problems with the cabin heater depending on the design.

What exact Corolla are you driving btw? How old is it etc?

Hope some of that lot helps! :)

Alex
