Went bham on saturday night and saw 5 twincams and 1 being an FX GT on a h-reg, I was wondering if anyone knew anything more then the fact that they have air con on top of normal twincamz??

Must say when i went digbeth in Birmingham there was literally 300-400cars there including Skylines, 200sx's, Pulsars and everything else and not that people were racing, everyone was just showing off, had a heavey time cus my Twinnie was the best looking of the twinz and specially with my 14" lightweight black rims with a chrome outer circle, i got bare stares.

Has anyone been or goes to birmingham on saturday nights( im talking about to show off with their cars, not clubbing) :-) and what do you think of it???

I know the Corolla GTi in America was called the FX GT (and had Air con fitted)

the name FX is like AE

i know all UK 87-96 corolla model, call FX corolla in japan, the original AE corolla has fit different front end

87-92 different wing, grill, headlight, bonnet, indicator.

92-96 different light, grill, bumper

just different style like corolla levin and trueno for coupe model,

then FX is 3dr, 4dr, 5dr model

97 on uk corolla wasn't sale in japan, so don't know about that,

then 00-on corolla wasn't call AE corolla any more, but japanese still make two different front end model.

!Removed! hell thats a "fine detailed" description :-)

This might sound silly but a guy once told me that they had 150hp, thats why i was curious.

but thanks for the description

To my knowledge FX GT was just another name for AE92 Twincam because...

I bought this 'kit' many years ago which was produced by the Japanese 'Tamiya' Model company

CorollaFXGTKit.jpg

As you can see to us it's an AE92 GTi but badged as the FX GT so I made it as a model of my car (and did it blue) and found no differences bodywork and trimwise :D , sadley I can't comment on the BHP figures

I know of that site and that was a 4DR of the hatch version that was sold mainly in Australia (Australia never had the 3dr hatch).

2b quite honest our UK spec twincams look much better with the 3doors and they something that shocked me, when i first signed up for the Aussie corolla forum, i told them my car did a 0-60 in 7.5secs and a top speed of 134mph (the day i got it) they all laughed at me, and said their 4agze's dont even do that??? i Got into BAAD cussing matches with around 5-6people and i KILLED em so they got me banned for a year. but the twincams are slow as snails back in aussie so we are VERY lucky.

Im guna open up another thread about changes and power gains (ie 0-60 and top end difference or just feeling the difference slightly) Could let everyone know what to do and not to do, cus ive got LOADS of tips which are all proven methods on my current twinnie and previous twinnie

anyways hope everyone leaves a spec thread

thanks for all your info guys

I am greatful for your info but if you look the front end on the FX GT model kit I show you it has exactly the same details (correct lights etc) as our GTi... to me body work wise this particular car is the same

FX is just the 3dr/5dr Corolla in japan does not apply to the 4dr or estate or a Levin, even though people fit the 'FX' grille or badges to 4dr Corolla's or buy them for their European Corolla.

ha haaa i went through something similar although never got banned, it was funny when i said i was coming home from Cornwall and hit 130 full of holiday gear, luggage, etc and the car felt like it wanted to give more (it can too, 144 on one of those electronic speed thingy's loaded with tools and a spare Battery LOL), they all canned me but then i said sorry 130MPH not KPH  and they all shut up... :D

Depending on where the Aussis live they have real trouble with heat and thin air though.

i agree japanese FX GTi is UK corolla GTi, my dad has been selling jap parts seen 1989, we used to sell the FX kit to people do conversion, because the FX corolla never sell in my country,

those info just want to tell people, WHAT IS THE JAPANESE 3dr GTi LOOK, to tell the front end is different, because they not sell in uk.

toyota did made FX moadel for 3dr/5dr hatch, 4dr saloon and 5dr estate.

of cause FX doesn't apply to the levin and trueno, because FX never with coupe model, and i did not said toyota do FX levin and trueno

also people fit FX grille on just to make European Corolla look, because FX corolla mainly sale in european country. not asia, also FX not many in japan, hard to see one there.

It was called the Corolla FX-16 here, for 16 valve and it did come with air conditioning. Actually there is one for sale right across the street from my friends house right now. It's in GREAT condition except for slightly faded paint and a smashed rear hatch window. Wish I had the cash to buy it, it would be a great project car.

To be quite honest, the ae82 twincams are quite a bit faster than the ae92 obviously due to the extra luxuries and imagine air con aswell?? if its on 129hp, then i would imagine it would be a bit slower then UK spec gti's BUT AIR CON would be COOOOOOL, literally
