i've always been led to believe that simply putting uk clocks - speedo etc. in a jap car - my turbo, would make me not have to buy a chip of sorts - giving me a nice 160mph clock.

however at a jap breakers the other day the chap there had some uk clocks on the counter and the speedo had the cable drive on it and not electric like mine.

is it cos it could have been from a rev1 uk car i,e pre electric the same as jap or are all uk speedos cable driven?

All rev1's are cable ..

All rev2+ are eletric ..

I've a rev3 UK speedo on my import rev2.

Technically its from mid 1992 that electronic speedos were introduced, there are some Rev2's with cable speedos.

Mine was made in 1992 (SW20 0072350) which was July, so electric speedos are from after as a minimum.
