Running Too Rich?

i have had a problem thats slowly been getting worse for 2 years now. i know i left it too long!!!

some time ago i noticed the engine management light come on when doing about 70mph

over the last 6 months it has stayed on and since then when the engine is warm it seems to cut out when im driving it. its like the engine looses power momentarily (my spelling is awful sorry).

i followed the Haynes diagnostic procedure (bridging 2 pins) and it came up with error 21.

I therefore changed changed the lambda sensor (its a lean burn one) and that cured the warning light.

The lambda sensor was heavily encrusted with dry black deposits...

but the power loss when warm is still there :ffs:

changing the sensor seemed to cure it a little but the problem still persists.

Anybody know how i can fix this without leaving my wallet at the toyota dealers..

Car, toyota carina. N reg

Cheers, Mark

PS: if you have read this before thats because i accidnently posted it in the wroing category a few days ago... sorry
