Hi guys,

How easy is it to change the head gasket on the AE92 GTI engine??

I'm thinking of buying one with a blown one. Is there anything I should look out for other than that gasket that could tell me if the engine is nearly dead whether I fix the gasket or not? I'm expecting to see white gunk on the inside of the oil cap, but that just means the gasket needs changing and the engine oil will need a good flushing out.

Anything else guys???

Standard procedure would be to find out why the headgasket went in the first place! There might be more issues with the car than meets the eye.

And if the head is warped, you'll need to get it skimmed.
