Chaing Rear Disks On Uk St202 Gt

Hi all,

The rear disks on my GT are in quite bad shape. they seem to have coroded badly at some point and have a far from smooth finnish on them now. So I'm going to replace them, probably with standard ones as it's the back.

Now I've changed disks before, it's not a hard job after all. What I don't know however is what if anything I'll need to do with the ABS system. I've never worked on a car with abs before so have no idea how a job like this may be affected by it.

Any advice would be greatly apreciated.

Thanks

Andrew

My dad did mine about 2 months ago, V simple, no problem with ABS, just slap them on, took about 30 mins, only problem is make sure you remember which way around the brake pads go as they are similar but different :) also there is 2 versions of the drum/brakes. Again V V similar, ie about 1mm diff on the holes for the wheels, we got the wrong ones at first. The people we got them off did not know the difference and say they experiance the similar problem regularly.

Hope that helps :)

Also if you get non toyota ones i would get some of the brake paint and paint the drum part before you put them on (test they first obviously) cos this part rusts up V quickly and looks crap.

you may need to back off the handbrake too to release the drums , as the shoes for handbrake are inside the rear drums also.nowt to do with the abs on the rears the sensors are inside the hub and dont play any part in disc changing.
