Sorry to burden you with my problems!

I have a 1978 Mk1 Hilux with a 20 R engine, 4 speed gearbox and its 2 wheel drive.

I am in the trade but new to Toyotas.

The clutch assembly including the flywheel is burnt out, prior to my purchase.

Does anybody know where these can be obtained apart from a dealer.

OR

Can anybody suggest a diesel that will fit without to many modifications.

I would like to discuss these options.

Any dealer worth their salt should be able to order those parts for you, but I can promise you it would be far less expensive to do a bit of homework and find the parts yourself through an Toyota parts supplier online.

There are a number of engines which will fit in your Hilux. A common upgrade is the fuel injected 22-RE which is a 2.4 liter SOHC with 116 bhp. There are lots of parts for them and they run forever.

As far as diesels, I don't know as much about the motors available for the Hilux since we hardly got any diesel Hilux here. I would suggest that if you go diesel, you get a TURBOdiesel, especially since many of the motors you will find for your Hilux will be of the old school indirect injection variety and they tend to be quite smoky and poky. Without a turbo they will be dead slow. Try for a D4-D if its in the budget and it will fit in your truck.
