De-cat Pipe Side Affects?

hi,

i was considering buying a de-cat pipe from tune-a-car for my 1997GT.

does anyone have any experience with these?

my exhaust system is standard at the moment and i'm concerned that when i fit the de-cat pipe the exhaust will be very loud. will this be the case.

i find the car fairly loud already when accelerating hard.

also, are there any other side-affects once the pipe is fitted?

e.g. increased fuel consumption, timing problems, emissions, etc.

thanks,

GDL

i'd leave it be , i had one , makes the car feel a bit looser , petrol consump goes up , and you have the added spoils of putting the cat back on for mot times.the benefits are few .but some will disagree this is my own opinion. :)

:D i have a twin exhaust de cat and found it a lot more responsive but as maleborn says u do have the hassle of replacing the cat its about half an hours work. dependant on the system you install u can have it as quite or as loud as u want. the first time mine was fitted powerflow put two silencers on it and i couldnt hear a thing so i had one removed and now she sounds awesome when puttin down the power.

the other advantage is my system cost £260 for a full stainless steel custom build and it has a LIFETIME GARUNTEE!!! cheap as chips!! have a look at powerflow . all the best

LOTS more responsiveness from engine. LOADS of extra low down grunt.

and the sound... i bit louder but not much. Get a silenced decat if u want it to be queit

My car has the standard zorst system and a straight thru decat. before the decat i cud barely hear any zorst note... now i can... im suspiciuos that ur zorst is damaged

hi coocki and everyone else,

thanks for the comments.

can you just explain what the zorst is please.

and who supplies a silenced de-cat?

the one from tuneacar is fitted using only 4 bolts so shouldn't be too hard or time consuming to fit??

cheers,

GDL
