Question On My Newly Purchased Toyota

Not too long ago, about several months, I bought a 2000 Toyota Corolla VE. The reason I bought it was to finally own a vehicle with good mileage, pretty good safety and reliability (my old vehicle is a 1988 Acura Integra LS manual...I'm still trying to get rid of it!). Even though I've only had this one for only a bit over 2,000 miles or so, I think I've found the right car.

My question is this, though. I bought it with 58,000 miles on it. It doesn't have a lot of extra options, but it is equipped with an automatic transmission and constant AWD. The car was in almost perfect condition and has a very quiet idle. Nothing wrong, no problems. What I'd like to know is if I got really screwed on this deal since I bought it for $8,300. I already know I didn't do a good job bargaining. I'm hoping the automatic and AWD will kind of justify the overly high price I paid. Either way, I could've made a far worse mistake.

I didn't realize they made an AWD Corolla.

Just another interesting extra we don't get here in the states! <_<

Sorry, I can't tell you anything on the price, but you know what? The car is purchased already, I wouldn't fret about it. If you enjoy the car and it's making you happy, I say just enjoy it. Finding out maybe you paid a bit too much won't help. I say just drive it and have fun!

We do get an AWD Matrix. Do you all have the Matrix there?

Corolla-based wagon, it looks like this:

Sorry, one of my relatives messed with my profile, I'm actually from the states. In fact, I bought this car from Wisconsin. I was a bit surprised that this car is AWD but there's no doubt about it since I was given a letter demanding I go to an EPA emissions testing station because my car is constant all wheel drive. But I do enjoy it and the mileage, which is important these days, is pretty good. The AWD gives it a little extra traction, torque and better response at a green light. :)

Where'd you get the letter demanding you go to emissions?

I'm really curious about this because I'm somewhat of a self-styled Toyota expert and I've never heard of an AWD Corolla in the states, not in the last 15 years at least.

Maybe this car was imported from Canada or something?

Well it said I had to go to any number of a variety of places in southern WI. Though if it's any tipoff, the VIN starts with an "I". Again, I'm sure it's some odd option that was available for whatever reason. Maybe I'll ask the dealer for any background info.

Never heard of an "I" in the first position.

A "1" means it was manufactured in North America

"J" is Japan, "3" is Mexico, "9" is Brazil and so on.

Never heard of "I" and I can't find it on any internet sites.

Are you 100% certain you have AWD?

Sorry, my bad. It was a "1". I think this one was from CA. But I'm absolutely positive it's AWD. The documentation says so and apparently the gov't thinks so too.
