Web Space...

I really should sort out my web space and sort my system out at home to host...

Am currently using an old friedns server which I've been using for my custard address with an agreed limit of 100Mb, although not strictly watched or maintained....

I've just re-organised my photo's for TOC locally so I can delete what's there and replace them with some sort of order and done a quick properties on the folder only to find I'm actually using 200Mb just for Forum photo's....

I'll be putting my own PC up as a web server shortly, just got to figure out how to set the router up to have my machine on the outside while being able to be part of the inside as well, dam windows, if it was unix would be nice and easy to assign a second IP on a different subnet to the same machine....

I would put them in the gallery but change them so often and it's nice to know your own naming structure and how you organise them...

Nothing against the Gallery as it'sa very useful location to keep the files. One option maybe to duplicatethem into the gallery for guests to look at who don't use the forums.... Is there ftp access to the gallery space or is it web portal only ?

the gallery is a sweet piece of kit that it resizes the images 3 times to help bandwidth.

Also ryan.. have you every thought about a dynamic DNS through a 3rd party? then you could have a permanent ip address and stick a web address on it

I have 6 spare perm IP's I can use at any time from my current ISP.... I do like Zen internet :)

Will have a look this evening at getting the web server up and running at home as it would be a lot easier to maintain than accross the network....

256kb/s Uplink should be enough for photo's for club members for now, I can't see it being that busy, if it becomes busier I will look at alternative methods....

I'm currently using thumbnail helper which just zaps the imagines down to whatever size you want, boviously not suitable for a gallery as it is automatic and will put a web front end on it.... Mind if I use the TOC Logo on the intro page as all folders will be TOC related, it won't be broadcast except from a direct link from this site, I will of course put a comment stating that the photo's enclosed are my own personal collection and nothing to do with the club or words to that effect :D ?
