Want To Buy A Supra

I don't know much about supra's but I like the look of the mk3 (I think mk3). In the past I have driven hatchbacks i.e. MK2 Golf GTI etc. I am driving a e36 BMW 318i auto at the moment but would very much like to own a supra. I would like to know the pro's and con's of owning one. I would also like to know the differences between the 3.0i, 3.0i turbo and 3.0i twin turbo if there is such a thing. Want to know what it like with petrol. Would also like to know the bhp, 0-60, top speed differences etc. Is there big differences between the auto and manual as since driving the BMW I have gone off Auto's. Any help given would be much appreciated.

Right...where do we start

the mk3 came as a 3.0 N/A and a 3.0 Single Turbo over here in the UK, in Japan they also did a 2.0 Twin Turbo and a 2.5 Twin Turbo.

Is it definately the MK3 your talking about? Not the MK4?

The MK4 had either a 3.0 N/A or a 3.0 Twin Turbo

The cars are pretty thirsty and driven carefully your looking at 20-25mpg.

Imports cost on average 3 times that of a uk car to insure if you are under 25.

Parts range from stupid money for things like sub frames etc to almost nothing like small covers and parts.

Supra Auto box is like no other auto you would have ever driven, its fast and quiet and knows exactly what you want to do and feels like a manual box which you have a psychic connection with

MK3 BHP is approx 180bhp for the 2.0TT (Dont quote me on this), 200bhp for the 3.0 N/A, 230bhp for the 3.0T & 280bhp for the 2.5TT.

MK4 BHP is 230 for the 3.0 N/A and 280 for the 3.0 TT, UK Cars are 326bhp as they have slightly diffrent engines

Imports come over with a 112mph limit (usually removed) and UK cars have a 155mph limit. Either (mk4 tt) can do 170mph delimited straight out of the factory :)

2.0TT mk3 is 210 bhp :P unless you get a very very early one!

Thanks people, I can now try to figure out which one is for me. I would like a U.K spec mk3 either 3.0i or 3.0it. I might even consider the (telepathic) auto gear box! I will hunt out one for the near future.

Cheers

I have a 1992 Mk 3 3.0i Manual, and have had great fun with it over the two years I have owned it. It does a shade over 200 miles on a full tank of gas, which isn't great, but it's been fine for me as I have only had it out on high days and holidays. Performance comes out at the higher rev range - it's important to remember this if you're used to most European performance cars.

I recently lost the use of my garage in London so I have had to put my baby out to grass in Derbyshire, where my sister is trying to sell it for me.
