get back to the subject i asked about this before and what ive being told and agree with is that NO for a number of reasons, the only way to go would be a SPORT CAT

Nizan has done it, many problems but these can be overcome, sounds absolutely brilliant but not much of a performance gain!

I'd do it though!

My mate has had his RS de-catted, no engine management light on and it sounds the dogs with his exhaust. As long as it's done properly and the sensor replaced properly you shouldn't have any problems

hmm... I've bought headers and a backbox and I still can't decide whether I should go de-cat or sports-cat... :)

what is all that people say about the ECU letting the car run at some slow mode when there is no cat? is that true?

people have told me that if I'm not going to go de-cat then I shouldn't upgrade the exhaust at all because it won't do any difference anyways even if I use a sports-cat... and then others tell me that using a sportscat is much better!

can someone give me straight answear? will there be ANY performance gains if I go de-cat with headers and 2" piping? or should I just use a sports-cat with the same setup and save me the trouble with the engine check light and all that crap... ?

Well hopefully we will find out soon. I have sports cat and all the necessary pipework sitting here I just need to make time to put it all together. I will try maybe this Sunday as thats the only time I really get off work.

I have machined new stainless boses for the sensors and I have chose the right size sport cat so I am hoping there won't be a problem.

Fingers crossed. :P

I think it's just for the TS, but i'm sure if there was enough intrest, we could convince him to possibly to develop one for the other models as well

I looked into modding the t sport alot and i mean alot, for performance.

In a nutshell, it was trade off betwen too much hassel and performance.

I looked at de catting striaght through, exhaust, cat back exhasut, manifolds, air filters. More or less what you can without going turbo or supercharger like kimis.

I spoek to lots of people on here, and specialist garages etc, people who owned them and took them on rolling roads

I carefully read things on the interent a thing that was posted here (cant remember it was reply to my post ages ago) about them modding a scionic 1.5ltr?(think i spelt that right, a version of the yaris)

gains were about 6-9 increase in bhp, with exhaust, manifolds and filters.

in fact the exhuast they found lowered performance. i thought long and hard.

we are playing with 103 odd bhp standard, gain will be minimal.

0-60 is 9secs or 8.7 by parkers (think parkers is about right when timing)

you can change the exhaust but the throat is still small!, cat back, but not much power to ebgin with etc etc.

I recently fitted an apexi and relocated, to be honest when i was younger 18ish  i thought i would get some magical performance gains, when you simply dont. My apexi relocated definelty feels more responsive but wil do nothign really to performance prob about 2bhp more max, but def more responsive.

of coruse if you changed manifold, fulll exhasut and filter id be lying if i said you didnt get an performance increase, by not a lot for what you pay. you knock about .4 secs at the most with all this.

basically if you were doing this to a 2.0 litre subrau turbo then it would be worth it.

well this is just my 10 pence worth. I jsut went down the route of apexi filter relocated and improving cornering, so you can corner better and faster.

I've got the stainless steel exhaust header sitting here waiting to go on when Kevin gets the system complete.

His basic idea is to match up the stainless header to a 2.5inch system - going through a 2.5 inch sports cat and mating up with back boxes of our choice.

Whereas I can see where you're going with this - I think that this is the best solution within the parameters. By this I mean we'd be increasing the overall pipe diameter, using a wider, better designed header and going via a higher flow sports cat ...

If all else fails it means that we get a slight increase in power - a high quality exhaust and a damn nice sound!
