Just bought a T3x D4D. luv my TomTom PDA sat nav, now i want to install it in my Avensis.

1. Where is the best place to take a perminent live feed so the PDA is still on when the engine is off?

2. With my Peugoet the front screen (sun reflective) blocked the sat. & mobile phone signal, is this the same with the Avensis?

3. Any ideas as to the best place to install both from experiance would be appreciated .

Regards,

Richard

Not sure about 1 or 3, but the answer to Question 2 is No. You won't have any problems like that. The built in sat nav receiver is on the dash anyway.

Thanks Mike, it was a pain having the Sat reciever in the back window, after 30mins parked the power would shut off and i had to get into the back after starting the car to switch it back on!! much easier if it is on the front dash.

Thanks

Richard

If you want a more permanent installation of the GPS antenna you can place it on top of the instrument panel, just below the dashboard. The instrument panel can easily be removed by removing the screws in the topside and pulling it out to the front. There is no metal above it, the original TNS300 antenna is also placed there.

The Radio/boardcomputer needs a permanent +, should be possible to find one there.

Hi Victor

Many thanks for the advice, i thought the Antenna had to have a clear view to the sky, it will be an absolute bonus if i can hide it under the dash!

I think i might get the guy who is fitting my hands free to sort out a permanent + for me as i know nothing about electrics!!

Thanks,

Richard
