hi all, ive had my e10 1.6 si for bout 8 months now and i have finally finished all of the exterior and interior work, im now looking for more performance, it has the 4a-fe just now but i was looking more at either a 7a-fe, ( i hear it drops straight in with an ecu and loom, or a 4a-ge. i can get get both engines relativly cheap, what i was wondering is, would there be any real point in keeping the 4a-fe, could i get any real power out of it( would be happy with 175 - 200bhp) also is the exhaust system from manifold back the same on the 4a-fe and the 4a-ge???. thanks in advance any advice would be gr8, really struggled to get advice on this car!!!

there are two types of heads on toyotas( know there are more but just 2 for the time)FE and GE,the FE is more for fuel econmy(to do with valve angles etc-i think) where GE is more preformance head,so id say go for a transplant but you must consider insurnce cost etc?it would be a fairly tuned 4age to hit 175 ish(nice clutch trottle boddies manfold etc),try this man for tuning tips bill zilla

as for exaust youd probly get a custom

plus try fensport

hope i helped

Welcome to TOC mate! Good to see some more scots on here.

Get some pics up when you can!

*cough* 4agze *cough* lol

Best bet is a transplant mate, easiest way to get some extra power straight off, maybe pricey though.

hey from what i hear it is a 7afe bottom end with a ge top on it, my dad is a mechanic so i can source the engines and, budget wise im not really too bothered, can anyone answer my boost question in the post above???? also was there ever a cold air intake kit released for the 4a-fe or 7a-fe engine, thanks again in advance.

Eh???

7A-GE, hybrid 7A-FE bottom end + 4A-GE top boosting!!!

That would make it a 7A-GTE which to my knowledge has been done only once but went bang on it's first run
