Changing The Led Colors

 I was wondering if anyone has changed the LED's behind the a/c controls and cig lighter? I had an LED go bad when I was working on the car and noticed that the LED's only have a green rubber sheath like thing on them that comes off. I was wondering if anybody knew where you could find a blue sheath for them. Also where's the best place to get a replacement bulb? :help:

Any car spares place should be able to help you out with that one I'd have thought.

I found the bulb at the dealer. I called them and they couldn't find it in the book or the computer. They made me bring the bulb in to them so they can match it up. The dealer is about an hour drive. I get there and they still can't find it anywhere. finally they were able to locate it. I have the part # incase anyone else has had the same problem. I don't have it with me but I'll post later.

The bulbs have like a green rubber condom on them. Does anyone know where I can find a blue one? If not what type of paint should I use to paint them blue?

I dont know where or even if you can get blue covers for the leds. if you cant find them and you are confident with the electronics and a soldering iron you could just unsolder the led and replace it with a blue one!

Check you local electrical hardware store. They may stock covers of dye for leds.

What Celica do you have?

It's a 2001 Celica GT. I would think that they would make blue since they make green covers, but can't seem to find them. I asked the dealer and they said that green was the only color that she could get. I don't know what type of LED to change it with (size, volt, amp, etc..) I also don't want to do anything to void my warranty yet.

I read on one website that you can paint them with a transparent paint that is heat resistant. They said to look at an arts and crafts store. I went to Michaels and looked at all of their selections but couldn't find any that said the were heat resistant. :crybaby:

You need to go to a proper electrical place or an independant car parts shop, a main dealer won't be interested & will most likely look at you like you're from another planet!!
