I like it Clarky but what does the catch can do and why have you got another wee mini filter thing (forget the name)?

Cheers

Ok - when I relocate the induction system I'll have to do something with the Crank Case Filter ... soooo ... to get it ready I've put in a hose that runs to the catch can - where the oil vapour can condense and be removed. The filter then acts as a breather for the can itself.

A few others have done this without the catch can .. by putting the filter directly on the crank case breather.

Does that make sense?

Oh - and despite appearances - the carbon is the real deal - no photoshopping involved I promise.

looking very nice mate, mines a **** hole!

I relocated my filter, and just but filter directly on the crank case, but i have no crank case filter.

Will this cause any probs, had a 7hour drive yesterday apexi was slightly warm thouygh it would be freezing?!?

though crank filter was warmer as it just hanging out tied with a tie rap. to be honest dont know exaclty wot it does, will it use more oil or something? ! :)

How about a mini heat shield is it worth it?

Loud and clear clarky but why do the people without the relocated induction kits not have a breather filter?

Everyone I 've seen have them - Kimi, Earpl etc

The crank case filter or hose just takes oil fumes away from the head as far as I know ...

Been thinking of a heat shield - but decided to go for the relocation on the basis that it'll help with my planned cold air intake ... again - keeping the heat down.

One thing I did notice was that there is more of a whine from the engine now .. could be co-incidence?

Are you gonna make the heat shield yourself?  If so - go for it and let me know it it works!

yes out of some carbon if i can, i mock up a design this weekedn and get a guy to make it next week. Made one for an old punto mk2 sporting i head, that worked well

looks good, However, theres always a However............Your Catch can is mounted wrong, it should be Upright, so on the "sight pipe" on the side you can see if your collecting oil......

Yeah - I was aware of this and did try to find a mounting point to allow this - but no space I'm afraid. Sight pipe still works though...

Great Pics Lorne, your engine bay is looking fantastic. I need to fit a catch tank to mine when I get a chance. I also have another Varis bonnet en route, very tempted to fit it to mine although with the Supra draining all my resources atm I may have to wait a while.

Thanks
