Just had my starlet gt in at toyota to fix the knocking noise( was the exhaust) and have the oil and filter changed,Went to pick it up and the mechanic told me to have a seat (not good) he then told me that the car has at some stage been involved in a very heavy front end crash ant the damage was not repaired very well the floor pan is bowed upwards slightly,so i asked how much to fix and he said that he asked there bodyshop that question and the guy just walked away. Now the garage i bought it when asked before i paid for it if it had been in any accidents said no,any ideas what i should do :(

Hi. Seems to me you might want to ask a moderator to move this to general discussions to get more 'traffic' and responses as it's a problem that could occur with any car. Anyway, is there any chance of taking it to another garage to see what they think? If they say the same then it looks like a trip to where you bought it to have it out with them. Good luck.

NAME AND SHAME THE GARAGE!! scumbags like that shouldn't be allowed to get away with that. they should have checked the car before selling it to you!

No... get it sorted to your satisfaction, then naming and shaming can come later, if at all.

Agree with Al J. there.

Get it resolved to your satisfaction ( whatever that may be ), then get trading standards on the case. The dealer you bought the car off was potentially messing with your life......it's only fair that you should get a chance to mess with his !

Yeah im not gonna name them unless i can prove that they sold the car knowing about the damage

Like many imports it was probally involved in an accident over in Japan talk to the guys who sold you it and go from there.

are they 100% that its crash damage? mine has a slight bow upwards on the drivers side because some dumb !Removed! jacked it up on the boxmember underneath the car and bent it slightly.

alot of GTs ,especially the older ones, have had crash damage repairs at some point. japan is a very dangerous place to drive.

Yeah its deffinatly accident damage spoke to the garage i bought it from and they have agreed to give me my money back as the salesman never disclosed the damage and they knew about it

In my country in such cases you can do something which is called "opposite sale" if I translate it directly into English.

It means that if they sell you a crashed car as "not previously crashed" and you find it out after the sale that the car was involved in an accident,

they must take the car back (as it is now) and give you back the money you paid .

I am sure the same exists in the UK.You are far more organised than us.

Just take a lawyer and go talk to them.

as for repairing, id find a scrapper starlet gt with a salvageable floorpan then get a competent garage to replace them...meh
