Hi everyone, I am new to this forum - hope you can help me out.

I have a 2002 Previa GS from new.

The car has been back 3 times to my main dealer where I purchased the car to have the heat shield, which is located between the exhaust and fuel tank, fixed back when it has become loose. When loose, there is a loud vibrating/rattling noise and cannot be missed!

At each visit, the dealer has re-riveted the heat shield back into place. I asked yesterday at the third visit whether there was a more permanent solution and was told the only answer was to re-rivet. I asked what would happen when the car is out of warranty in October and was told that the cost of the repair would then be down to me!

I suspect that the work only takes a few minutes, but the dealer kept the car all day, so is a major inconvenience.

For this to keep happening this must be a design fault. I suspect I will have the problem again, and if I have to pay for the repair will take the matter up with Toyota.

Has anybody else had a similar problem? Any suggestions for a permanent fix?

Thanks for your help.

just been out and checked mine.

seems to have 2 different ones on the side nearest the sill.

so my guess would be that it is a common problem with them.

the one that looks like it has been changed uses a small rivet with a washer. BODGERS.

could not even be bothered to get the correct size rivet.

lets hope mine does'nt start falling off.
