Hey my dad has the 4X2 1.8L 3dr 2000 NV Model Rav and I was looking at the performance figures in the manufactures brochure and it says it does 106mph flat out? I really cant understand this as it churns out 127bhp and it not as if the revs run high in 5th gear. Most 1.4s today can clock 110mph. When were in the car and cruiseing around 60mph you put your foot down and it will rocket to 90 and apparently the accelerator is knowwhere near touching the floor?

If anyone can tell me if the brouchure is lying or if that is the actual top speed and why i would be very greatfull..

Thanks

Someone better able to explain it will be along shortly - but brick shape aerodynamics and frictional losses will be the main reason - it may be 1.8 and two-wheel drive but big wheels create more drag and the shape was never intended to create smooth air-flow ...

The revs may not run out but you are probably past peak torque.
