Advanced Ways To Improve Mpg?

Are there any mods or tweaks that are relatively safe which can be done to my 2000 Corolla that will improve overall mileage per gallon? I'm not the most advanced in mechanic abilities, but I'm willing to tinker a little bit or take it to a friend who knows more than I do. : ) The Corolla already gets pretty good mileage but if there's a way to improve it, I'll give it a try!

The only thing you could do mechanically is fit taller, skinnier tires and that would degrade your cars handling and probably only be good for a marginal increase, maybe 1-2 mpg at the very most.

TRUST us when we tell you the #1 way you can improve your mileage is by altering the way you drive. PLEASE do not waste your money on any "Tornado" fuel savers or magnets you clip onto your fuel lines or ANYTHING else like that. There is NO miracle fuel saving device, unless you could the diesel or hybrid engine and you can't legally put one of those in that car.

Accelerate evenly and gently and coast up to traffic lights. Keep it at the speed limit on the highway and you'll probably gain 2-3 mpg that way if you drive like most people now.

...Or trade your Corolla in for a new Scion xb or xa for $14k, then you'll gain about 5 mpg.

That's it man, sorry.

heard ecotek can make them do more mpg but aint seen prove

What's that?

Just another junk scam product that will probably get sanctioned by the FTC like all the rest have.

Be smart. Don't buy one.:yes:

Worked well on my GTI. It put the MPG up to 40mpg when cruising and 25ish mpg with a heavy foot. Before I fitted it I was only getting 30mpg and 20mpg with a heavy foot.

They say it increases bhp as well. To be honest, i didn't really notice any real difference in that department.

The key is setting it up correctly. Most people don't follow the instructions word for word so it doesn't help them one bit.

Works extremely well on my 4age, paid for itself on my first long trip (1200miles. It will do little for you around town but works great on motorway runs at WOT. I have an Ecotek on my Corolla and it's been nothing short of fantastic, it wont give you any power boost, thats not what i expected, but it does give a cleaner burn and that gives better fuel economy.

I have one, i was dubious, i've seen the difference on long journeys, i'll buy another one.

I should be on comission !?? LOL.
