In all honesty can you imagine pulling 7000 revs in first gear every time?

When to change gear?? What for? Racing? cruising? general day to day driving?

Would help stating for what purpose the question is aimed at achieving.

Seems like a daft post. It all depends on the circumstances and what roads you are driving on. When ragging it on a fast open road it's best to change at around 7000rpm which is where the optimum bhp is, any higher than this and you don't gain anything except engine wear (rev limiter is at around 7300rpm). In town or traffic you'd might as well change at 3-4000rpm to save on fuel.

My advice would be to have you car rolling roaded or dyno'd.

That way you will know exactly what you car is doing at certain revs.

i.e If your car peaks at 5.5K then you know to change at 5.5k, and then you can say to yourself why on hell would I want to rev it all the way to 7.3K it's just unnecessary stress and will kill my engine.

see what i mean. ;)

As for cruising dont do 30mph in 5th. pmsl.
