Aircondition

Hi, I have a Vitz (Yaris) and it seems that the aircondition isn't cooling like it was. I've tried searching the net on how it might work and how to recharge it (like pressure, etc.) because I would like to try doing it myself but I didn't find anything relevant. Does anyone here have a clue where I might get this info????

Not sure on the recharge bit... could be that your filter is clogged, i suggest giving that a clean....

Take the lower glovebox out (squeeze both sides and pull out) you can now see the filter... grab it and pull it out, then give it a good shake, rattle and roll... get the thing clean! Then pop it back in and run your aircon through on full for a bit and see how it is!

Perhaps it just needs an air con service? Or a coolant top up?

I used to work for an air conditioning company but quite frankly I cant remember what it might need - I'm just guessing! lol

I cleaned the filter already. I need to know the inlet and outlet pressure for the coolant if anyone knows it i'll appreciate it. Also where can I buy a servicing manual online? I've tried Haynes but they still haven't issued one.

Thing with air con is that if you don't service it properly you end up with all sorts of nasties forming in your system, and you could end up getting ill! If you're not sure, take it to a proper garage (Doesn't have to be a Mr T dealership) and get them to give it the once over! Also, you should be running your aircon for 10 mins a week in the winter months to make sure everything is kept as fresh as a daisy! (Remember air con "Conditions" the air - Its not just used for cooling!!!)

Also make sure your vents are set to fresh intake and not recirculate - That can make a difference!

Do you not find it takes a lot of power away from the car though if you run it constantly! I notice the difference in performance when its on... Apart from when i drove my aunties 3.0l merc...
