Clutch Problems

Having large problems with my clutch after driving up to leeds and back from london. I now have to lift my clutch right up to near the end of its movement before the biting point is engaged whereas before i only had to just lift the clutch before i could feel the biting point. Also when moving off in 1st gear i now have to rev the engine to quite high revs in order for the car to set off and still the car is slugish and slow to move off whereas before it wasnt.

I was thinking of taking the car to Mr. T to get it sorted but my mate just got his done and it costed him a grand. Thats like a fifth of the price i payed for my car in the first place :wacko::wacko: any ideas anyone im in desperate need of help

Yip sounds like your clutch is slipping! :(

Bad news if it is 'cos you'll need a new clutch! :!Removed!:

Get the car in top gear, go at about 30mph.. then floor it, if the engine revs up a little (without pressing the clutch), the clutch is slipping.

Best first to check the freeplay of the clutch pedal.

Other than that could be an oily clutch plate, if it's not worn out. On the bottom of the box there's a hole to acces the bellhousing, you can use compressed air to blow it out first (wear a dust mask!!) and then spray lots of brake cleaner in it.

Or the diaphragms or the pressure plate are damaged.

Yves.
