Microsoft Word Help

There must be someone who knows how to stop this irritating feature in Word when I’m typing?!

If I want to change a word or a letter and I put my curser in the middle of some text, when I type it deletes what is ever to the right of the curser and doesn’t move the text along.

Do one of you smart types know how to stop this?

If I open a new blank page and start typing it doesn’t happen! I’m doing something somewhere to activate this pain and I don’t know what!

HELP!!

:censor:

I think it may be 'overwrite' or OVR in the bottom right hand of the page.. Click on it so it greyed out..

Edit: Make that bottom left..

Its indicated in word as OVR but when you press the insert button on your keyboard, which is usually above the cursor buttons, you will be able to turn that off :)

Cheers all! I knew I could count on someone on here, double clicking the OVR turns it on or off!

No more swearing at my PC!

Just press 'Insert' over to the left like DA and Robie said, i catch it sometimes when i'm typing at work, i'm used to that one now!!!!! I get it with students (and staff!!) all day long too, so that helps!

That will turn 'Overtype' off! :D

That really used to annoy me at times with essays until I accidentally realised that pressing Insert cured it! :D

insert and overwrite date back to DOS more than anything and are pretty useless these days

Security Vulnerability

A recent report found OpenOffice.org vulnerable. A modified version of the 2.0 Beta will be released shortly fixing that vulnerability. In the meantime, be cautious and only open .doc attachments from trusted persons.

Think I'll stick to Microsoft Office

Open source, free alternative for Microsoft Office:

Yeah its good.

Unfortunatley we have to be seen to support the home user here at work, and we have a Microsoft Campus Licence, so we get it all for free as staff!! And for as much as i loathe Microsoft, its what "everybody" uses...

Haha, only because they release a new "Security Patch" every 5 mins.

(Translation of "Security Patch": We've found ANOTHER flaw and are trying to make ourselves look like we care!)
