Special Sparkplugs For A Rav?

Does anybody know if a 96 (p) rav-4 recquires a special set of sparkplugs?

mines due for a service tomorrow and the garage reckons it might need them at £8 each!!!!!!!

I had my 98 Rav running rough and misfiring, so I bought a set of four from http://www.spark-plugs.co.uk/index.htm

For Standard/Platinum spark plugs

Part No.

BKR6EYA £2.74 each

or if you want special ones

Iridium spark plugs

Part No. BKR6EIX-11 £7.58 each

p&p was free over £10 and recieved next day and very recommended.

Make sure you have the pre gapped twin element type

My wife has a 1998 RAV4 and its recommended plugs, in the service manual, are platinum-tipped double-ground (NGK BKR6EKPB11). At her latest service, I requested new plugs and I am told by the dealer that they now recommend ordinary (copper?) plugs. Although these will save money, is there a reason why they have 'downgraded' the spec. Should I care?
